Will the Listing Come Back After Removal?
This is the right question to ask before paying anyone, and the answer separates two things that are often sold as if they were the same. One of them lasts. The other comes back at the next crawl, and the person who bought it concludes that removal does not work.
Removing the page versus removing the result
A search result is a reflection of a page. Google's 'Remove outdated content' tool refreshes that reflection — it asks Google to re-check a URL and drop it if the content is gone.
If the page still exists, the check finds it and the result returns. This is not a failure of the tool; it is the tool working as designed. It was never a deletion mechanism.
Why source removal holds
When the record is deleted at the site itself, the URL stops resolving. There is nothing for a crawler to find and nothing to re-index. The result drops out and does not regenerate, because the thing it pointed at no longer exists.
The sequence matters as much as the action: source first, de-index second. Done the other way round, you have paid for a delay.
The honest exceptions
A small number of sites cannot be cleared at the source, and what is available is a search-level removal only. That is a genuinely weaker outcome and it should be disclosed before payment, not discovered afterwards.
Image results are also slower than page results. Photographs can linger in image search for a few days after the page itself is gone, which is normal rather than a sign something was missed.

Two questions settle it. Is the record being deleted at the source, or only de-indexed? And if a particular site is search-level only, will you be told which one before the order rather than after?
